Kristina Walkup

My name is Kristina Walkup and I am working on my PhD with Dr. Jill Pruetz in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB), with Anthropology as my home department. For my undergraduate degree, I went to St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. I came to Iowa State in 2002 and received my Master's degree in Anthropology in 2004. My thesis research was a comparative study between two different zoo environments, studying the effect of captivity on species-specific behaviors in Japanese macaques.

For my dissertation, I will be studying orangutan cognition in regards to their comprehension of causal relations involving tool use. I also work at the Great Ape Trust of Iowa as a research assistant.
