Caisie Pitman
Graduate Student

Caisie Pitman is a graduate student in the Department of Anthropology at Iowa State University and has also been a research assistant at the Great Ape Trust of Iowa since January 2004. Pitman's primary research interest is the evolution of primate cognition. Specifically, her thesis research focuses on the effects of early experience on the social cognitive abilities of nonhuman great apes.

In addition, Pitman has been involved in a two year study of orangutan locomotion at Great Ape Trust, as well as studies of gorilla social behavior and elephant calf development at the National Zoological Park in Washington, D.C.
