Anthropology Club

The Anthropology Club hopes to achieve several goals for its members. We hope to introduce students to new subjects and ideas throughout the field of Anthropology as well as keeping students informed to opportunities in the different sub-disciplines. Students are encouraged to share their experiences in the field to show others the opportunities they too can explore. Students are encouraged to participate in discussions and presentations related to Anthropology as well.

During monthly meetings undergraduate and graduate students in the department are welcomed and meet with others interested in Anthropology. These meetings are aimed at helping students get involved in the department and the field of Anthropology. They are also great places to make long lasting friendships and learn about ongoing research being done by our faculty and graduate students.

There are also many informal social gatherings throughout the year. Some of these activities include the Fall and Spring potluck-picnic. These gatherings are often characterized by a buffet of home recipes from all over the world. These gatherings are fun and informal, giving members a chance to relax and get to know their peers and faculty. Another activity is "Movie Night;" where students get together and watch movies from around the world. Pizza and soda are usually provided.

During the Spring Semester the Anthropology Club has sponsored VEISHA displays that have caught the fancy and attention of a large number of visitors.

The Anthropology Club is always ready to get involved at Iowa State University and we hope to see many new students in the years to come.
